CCL Secure congratulates the Bank of Thailand on winning the Best New Banknotes award at High Security Printing Asia for its new THB50 and THB100 polymer notes, which entered circulation in November. The recognition highlights the successful combination of familiar design, enhanced longevity, advanced security features, and inclusive accessibility.
Design and durability
The new 50 and 100 baht notes retain similar designs of previous paper series while moving to polymer substrates. Studies by the Bank of Thailand show the polymer notes are four times more durable than their paper counterparts, a durability that is projected to save 350 million banknotes per year over the eight‑year lifespan of the notes and to reduce production, transport and resource costs.
Security innovation
CCL Secure is proud that the 100 baht note uses our GUARDIAN™ substrate, which supports a suite of advanced security elements. Key features include a complex window, a G-SWITCH™ dynamic colour‑shifting feature that changes a flower from purple to orange when tilted, and a secondary window containing a METALIX™ pentagon with a brilliant metallic sheen and lustrous gold finish. These layered, tactile and visual features strengthen counterfeit resistance while preserving the note’s familiar appearance.
Neil Sanders, Vice President and Managing Direct said: “We congratulate the Bank of Thailand on this well‑deserved recognition. The new polymer notes demonstrate how thoughtful design, durable substrates and cutting‑edge security features can come together to deliver banknotes that are safer, longer lasting and more accessible for everyone.”
