CCL Secure extends its heartfelt congratulations to the Banco Central de Bolivia (BCB) on the successful launch of its new Bicentennial Commemorative banknote, which was unveiled at an event in Sucre. The banknote is produced on GUARDIAN™ polymer substrate, celebrating Bolivia’s 200 years of independence.
A Fusion of Heritage and Technology
The new commemorative note combines a deep tribute to the nation's culture and history. At the launch event, President Edwin Rojas of Banco Central de Bolivia, highlighted that the polymer banknote is made with modern technology, high security measures, and cutting-edge elements.
The note's design features an array of national heroes and cultural symbols, as detailed by President Luis Arce.
- On the obverse: The banknote honours eight independence heroes, including Simón Bolívar, Antonio José de Sucre, Tupac Katari, and Juana Azurduy. Whilst a security band depicting a blue macaw is featured on the right.
- On the reverse: The design showcases the historic House of Liberty, a Toborochi tree, a figurehead from the National Mint of Potosí, and a sculpture of an Oruro miner's helmet.
- A transparent window: A key feature of the GUARDIAN substrate is the transparent window, which displays a visually stunning and highly complex security feature, VIVID Colour™ by CCL Secure. The images appear like a CAMEO during the day, but under Ultra-Violet light, the natural landmarks, the majestic Illimani Mountains, the stunning Salar de Uyuni, and the image of the rare pink dolphin—fluoresce in brilliant colours.
