The Tipping Point: The story of England’s transition to full polymer

Free Webinar: Wednesday 9th March 2022 8am and 4pm (GMT)

Hosted by Reconnaissance

Sponsored by CCL Secure. The Polymer Banknote People.

The third and final webinar in our series looking at how close we are to ‘The Tipping Point’ for polymer banknotes takes place on 9 March 2022. The event is hosted by David Tidmarsh and features a presentation from the Bank of England about their transition from paper to full series polymer.

After more than 300 years of paper banknotes, the Bank of England completed its full transition to polymer in 2021. Later in 2022, all paper notes remaining in circulation will cease to be legal tender – ending three centuries of tradition as the age of polymer becomes fully entrenched in the English economy.

The title of the webinar series is drawn from David Tidmarsh’s 2016 article in Currency News. He’ll be joined by Toby Davies, Head of Notes Operations from the Bank of England and Andrew Bonnell from CCL Secure, as they explore the reasoning behind the move to polymer, the research that went into the choice, and how the transition was achieved successfully.
